In today’s class, we previewed the human-centered design process that we will study for the remainder of the course. The focus of our project for the semester is to go through the HCD process, focusing on the needs of programmers, whether they are novices or experts.
In lab today, we will brainstorm project ideas and begin to form groups of 3–4 based on common interests. Ultimately, for this lab, your eventual project group should submit a PDF with the following information:
- The names of your group members.
- At least three research questions as per the project milestone #1 write-up that your group would like to tackle.
- Your groups’ current thoughts on which of the questions they wish to address.
- Any questions or concerns your group has, e.g., additional information that you need to make a final decision on a research question, that I can answer.
Frame your research questions in terms of true “questions,” e.g.,
“How can we make the GDB experience better for CSC 161 students?”
Be as specific as you can in your question to help focus your efforts. Be aware that this “lab” is not a contract! You are free to explore other questions or change directions as much as you want during this first milestone. However, you will need to finalize a question so that you can actually do the first milestone before the deadline.
